Supporting more able and talented pupils in secondary schools - June 2012

More able and talented pupils benefit most in schools where there is a personalised approach to learning and where pupils have more control over how and what they learn. However, too few pupils are challenged to achieve above the expected level at the end of key stage 1 and key stage 2. Transition arrangements from primary into secondary school often fail to provide continuity in the education of more able and talented pupils.
